We live in a fast-paced, instant gratification society where we’re fielding constant alerts and information overload. These are man-made conditions that impact every aspect of our well-being. Christians often are told to ‘just pray’ or ‘just have faith’ when dealing with mental health issues; and while both are absolutely essential to our mental and spiritual health, God gave us more tools and options to help us help ourselves. Choosing to take care of yourself is not only NOT selfish, but it’s critical to your relationship with God and others and your Christian walk!
✝️SELF-CARE FACTS & TIPS:
🧠God created order, balance and limits. Knowing our own limits and setting boundaries allows us to have the time, energy and mental capacity to best serve God and others. Doesn’t He deserve our best?
🕊️There is peace in knowing that God is taking care of things for us behind the scenes. Learning to ‘let go and let God’ is essential in the Christian walk. We must pause (be still), acknowledge God’s sovereignty (know that He is God) and surrender all (trust Him)!
📖The Bible gives us many examples of Jesus prioritizing His own rest and instructing us to do the same. Obedience will lead to the ultimate source of rest and healing for our mind, body, soul and spirit.
˗ˏˋ ✞ ˎˊ˗Some of the greatest men and women of the Bible experienced mental and emotional anguish but what they all had in common is faith in God. Christians are not immune to suffering and pain but should have a HOPE that separates them from the hopeless.
