The Loneliness Epidemic

By:

1 in 3 adults in the United States report feeling lonely on a regular basis and teenagers and young adults report chronic loneliness at even higher rates.

Even though we’re more connected with others than ever before, we feel less connected as we text over calling or visiting, and even if we do have face-to-faces visits with friends or family, how often do our devices get more attention than the person right in front of us?

When we feel distant from others and from God, it's often because of our own choices. Honestly, how can we foster a relationship with anyone, including God, if we're spending hours scrolling on social media, snapchatting or binging the latest shows?

The need for love, belonging and companionship were identified as basic human needs by psychologist, Abraham Maslow, but God already introduced this truth to us in Genesis. He instilled these needs in man creating us to have a meaningful relationship with others, but most importantly, with Him!

God promises to never leave us and tells us in Isaiah 41:10 “I am with thee”, but in order for us to feel His presence, we must be also BE fully present.

We can strengthen our connection with our Heavenly Father by doing what improves any other type of relationship:

Communicate = Pray all Day

Be Attentive = Seek God Always

Actively Listen = Study/Meditate on God’s Word

Be Humble = Confess, Apologize & Change

Show Affection = Give Praise/Show Love

Trust = Rely on God/Have Faith

Gratitude = Count Your Blessings

The only way to truly fill the gaping voids in the hearts, minds and souls of people today is by casting ours cares upon Jesus. God is waiting for YOU to turn to HIM!
